A Lake County
Grassroots Democratic
Organization
On April 29, 2004, a new political organization
was formed in Lake County to give a group of
people who had been in the silent minority for
many years, a voice in their community.

This group, The Warren Township
Democrats, is comprised of concerned
members of the community along with
precinct committeemen and others who want
to affect changes in Lake County, state and
federal governments to benefit all the
residents of our communities.
2008 General Election Results
Warren Township Democrats is sponsoring a section of highway in Lake County through the
Adopt-A-Highway program.   We are responsible for a 1 mile stretch on Stearn School Road from Dilley's
Road to Rt. 41.   We began this program in April 2007 and are committed for at least 2 years to perform
semi-annual clean-ups on this highway.   We have had 3 successful clean-up days with the most recent
being May 2008.  We had a great turnout which was documented by a photographer and reporter with the
Lake County Journal.  Our next date is scheduled for S
aturday November 15, 2008 at 9AM.  Please come
out to help.

Gurnee Days 2008
Warren Township Democrats again had a booth at Gurnee Days on August 9 & 10, 2008.   EDDI
co-sponsored the booth with us and also provided volunteer help.   IT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!  We
had a great turnout in terms of volunteers, candidates and visitors to our booth.    We collected
several hundred names for people interested in candidate information, lawn signs or just general
support.  In addition, there were over 110 Democrats participating in the parade on Sunday and
walking for the various candidates.

There is a lot of interest in Lake County, State and Federal politics this year and much of it is going
towards the Democrats - even in areas that were previously
RED.

As in past years, we had a raffle give-away thanks to the many donations of the businesses in
Gurnee - from the local stores and businesses to Six Flags.   We also gave away the life-size cutout
of Barack Obama to one happy winner.

Here are some photos from the event:

Congratulations to all the candidates in the 2008 General Election.   It has been a remarkable time.
Regardless of win or lose, everyone campaigned hard and clean (though I may not be able to say
the same about opposing candidates as some of our candidates signs kept disappearing).
(UNOFFICIAL Winners are in
RED as final totals for provisional and late absentee ballots have not
been counted.  In addition, several of the races were VERY close and there could be a recount.)
